RFSport.com is proud to sponsor an entirely different and unique way of competing. Licensed Amateur Radio operators from around the world compete, logging all contacts with a new program called (appropriately) SportLogger. This "normalizes" a major component of the competition for all participants (think: NASCAR for Ham Radio!).
Of course, anyone can (and everyone should) operate in the contest, using any logging system that they want. However, only participants using RFSport Logger are considered to be in the "Competitor Class" and are eligible for RFSport.com awards (if any are offered).
Real-time Scoreboarding Being a Competitor means using Logger and being connected to the Internet during the event. Logger will sense your connection to the Internet and auto-update a web-based scoreboard with your station's score and log entries. Even intermittant dial-up Internet users are supported!
RFSport.com is proud to have been the first realtime scoreboarding system, having debuted the system in the fall of 2005 for the North American Fall VHF/UHF Sprints.
Logging Archive and Data Mining The contest may be over, but every logged entry is saved in an on-line MySQL database for review. Select the "Scoreboard Central" link to the left to see some archived events.
Physics, not Politics RFSport.com believes that competitors should be grouped by their similar ability to communicate, not by man-made classes and political boudaries that RF "knows nothing about". Users of Logger are prompted for their RF output, antenna gain, number of operators and location. Competitors who are +/- 5dB (RF output + antenna gain) of you are considered to be in the same competition category (and displayed as such!).
Awards RFSport.com believes that there is a direct correlation between one's ability to make contact with as many other participants as possible and their score (duh!). Therefore, sanctioned competitions are about making contacts. Adopt strategies that maximize your ability to contact other participants. Awards are presented to the top 30% scoring competitors -- 20% are considered "Silver Level" and 10% are "Gold Level".
It is the goal of RFSport.com to have certificates available for download within 48 hours of the conclusion of a sanctioned event!
CWAC, CWAC! CWAC's are Competitions-Within-A-Contest. RFSport.com can "piggy-back" on to other contesting events with similar goals -- with the sole purpose of attacting even more participants overall. Sponsoring organizations still perform their traditional function while those competitors that use Logger will additionally qualify for RFSport.com awards! That makes it a CWAC!
To qualify for a CWAC, base-event rules must simply be single-band (for now) and include scoring that is calculated by the formula: (QSO-point) X (unique Grid-4) - with more options under development (including 1-point per km scoring).
Use RFSport.com to support your group's event (think of it as being "RFSport Sanctioned"!
The only requirements are that the event be (1) a single-band event, (2) use QSO-point X unique-Grid4 scoring. RFSport can provide the real-time excitement. Log collection (if required) or adjudication is still your responsibility.
